HR's Maternal Role In The Organisation
By Julie Goh
Do you know that HR is often viewed as the Mother of the organisation? Just like a mother, HR professionals work tirelessly to ensure that the needs of their employees are met and that the workplace is a safe and supportive environment.
Here are some reasons why HR professionals are like mothers, and why their work is so essential to the success of any organisation.
- HR as a caretaker: Just as a mother takes care of her children, HR professionals take care of the employees within their organisation. They provide support, guidance, and resources to ensure that employees feel valued, appreciated, and taken care of.
- HR as a mediator: Mothers often act as mediators when siblings fight or disagreements arise within the family. Similarly, HR professionals act as mediators when conflicts arise between employees or between employees and management. They help to resolve conflicts and find solutions that benefit everyone involved.
- HR as a teacher: Mothers are often the first teachers that children have, teaching them important life skills and values. Similarly, HR professionals are responsible for educating employees on company policies, procedures, and values to ensure that they understand what is expected of them and can succeed in their roles.
- HR as a problem solver: Mothers are constantly solving problems, from finding lost items to figuring out how to make a tight budget work. Similarly, HR professionals are responsible for solving complex problems within the workplace, from managing employee relations to addressing issues related to performance and productivity.
