Important Industry Update: Contract Stamping Required
From 1 January 2025, all employment contracts in Malaysia must be stamped within 30 days of signing under the Stamp Act 1949. The stamp duty is RM10, with penalties ranging from RM50 to RM100 for late stamping. This applies to full-time, part-time, fixed-term, and internship contracts. Contracts under RM300 are exempt, though the threshold is outdated due to the new minimum wage.
