All Employment Contract Must Be Stamped
Starting 1 January 2025, all employment contracts in Malaysia—including full-time, part-time, fixed-term, and internships—must be stamped within 30 days of signing, as required by LHDN under the Stamp Act 1949.
The stamp duty is RM10 per contract, with penalties of RM50–RM100 for late stamping.
Contracts below RM300/month are exempt, though this is outdated due to the RM1,700 minimum wage.
HR teams should review existing contracts, track new ones, and ensure timely stamping to avoid fines and legal issues.
